About Me

My name is Liam Peters, hailing from Brisbane, Australia. Like most other digital artists, my interests in art came at a very young age. I was fascinated with drawing the usual: dinosaurs and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. My art quickly evolved as I grew older and originally I came to think of myself as a surrealist with a dark twist.

After graduating, I enrolled in QANTM College/TAFE and studied Multimedia and 3D animation – it was there I discovered digital art and my love of the Wacom tablet. Once I finished my studies, I was left with a hefty student loan to pay off so I entered into the underground mining industry, thinking it would only be temporary. Five years later I was debt-free but still stuck in the depths of Queensland’s boiling underground. Anxious to finally do what I always wanted and intended, I moved to the United States at the end of 2008. I spent the year refreshing my skills, improving technique, and building a stronger portfolio. My surrealist style has faded however, I’m always trying to push originality in my paintings; I love the challenge of creating different costume designs and subtle twists in my work. I’m constantly conjuring up alternate realities and worlds in which my characters can come to life.

I’m currently self-employed doing freelance digital illustration from home just outside of Dallas, Texas. Past projects include: book cover illustrations, t-shirt illustrations, collectible card game illustrations, private commissions and contract work. Past clients include: Ghost Ship Studios, Gun Metal Games, Empty Room Studios, and self-published authors. All of my work is painted in Adobe Photoshop CS3.
